Ordering Process

Step 1: Place and complete your online order with us at www.upstreamflyfishing.co.za
Step 2: You'll receive an email order confirmation detailing the contents of your order – please contact us if any information is incorrect.
Step 3: After payment, you’ll receive a payment confirmation from Payfast, our payment gateway service provider, to UPSTREAM FLY FISHING CC.
Step 3: Once dispatched with our courier, we will email your tracking number for reference
Step 4: Your parcel will be delivered to your nominated address

Returns Policy

You may return all items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, provided they are unused and still within their original packaging - return shipping will be for your cost. We will cover the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error or you received an incorrect or defective item.

Refunds can be expected to be processed within 10 working days from receiving your package from the courier. This includes the time to process the return and the time for your bank to process the payment refund request. We will endeavour to complete the process as timeously as possible.

If you need to return an item, please contact us (Tel: 021 762 8007 // email: fish@upstreamflyfishing.co.za) or visit us as the shop to provide us with the details of the product you would like to return. We will be ready to assist you to sort out your return.

Delivery Options & Charges

Delivery is available to South African customers only and we are able to deliver to virtually any address in the country via our courier service partners. All orders will be confirmed via email and processed as timeously as possible.

When placing an order, please select the shipping option you would like to use and you will be provided with delivery cost fee. You also have the option to select “collect in-store”, which is free.

Local Door to Door delivery - 1 to 3 day delivery to Cape Town and surrounding areas only. Delivery charges as follows,

  • 0 -2kg: R100
  • 2.01 – 5kg: R125
  • 5.01 – 10kg: R150
  • 10.01 - 25kg: R200

We require a physical address and someone to sign for parcel between 08:00 and 17:00. Orders placed on a weekend or public holidays will be processed on the first working day. 

Door to door to Main Centres delivery – 1 to 3 delivery to Bloemfontein, Durban, Johannesburg, George, Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, East London, Pietermaritzburg, Polokwane and Kimberley. Delivery charges as follows,

  • 0 -2kg: R125
  • 2.01 – 5kg: R150
  • 5.01 – 10kg: R200
  • 10.01 - 25kg: R250

Regional Areas door to door delivery – 24h to 96h door to door delivery depending on location. Far out towns may take longer. Delivery charges as follows,

  • 0 -2kg: R150
  • 2.01 – 5kg: R200
  • 5.01 – 20kg: R250

In-store Collection - Order collection is free from our Upstream Fly Fishing shop at 274 Main Road Kenilworth, Western cape between our business hours: Monday to Friday: 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. Please select the “in-store collection option” when selecting your delivery option upon checking out your online order.


Please note: We only deliver within South Africa and our estimated delivery times is for main city centres and outlying areas may take a little longer to get to you once it has been collected by our courier partners. We will always make all efforts to deliver on time as promised; however, sometimes things happen, so we are unable to guarantee that all orders will be delivered within the expected time frame.

Payment, Security & Fraud Prevention

Upstream Fly Fishing uses Payfast to provide a secure environment for the authorisation of credit card transactions. Payfast is PCI-DSS Level 1 Compliant and confidential information including card details are encrypted using industry leading Extended Validation SSL with 2048-bit encryption. 3D Secure is used to verify in place for all credit card transactions. Your personal information is treated with the greatest of care and sensitive payment information such as credit card details are never stored with us nor do we have access to them.

You can make online payment via the following methods,

1. Credit Card

  • Visa and Mastercard credit cards can be used to pay for your order.
  • Once you have selected to pay via credit you will be requested to fill in your card details on our secure checkout. If you are using a credit card for the first time, you will also be requested to verify your card using 3D Secure as an added security measure.
  • Upstream Fly Fishing does not have access to any of your secure banking information.
  • If the payment was successful, customers will receive an email with an invoice containing an order number and order status. The status of your order will reflect as Payment Received.
  • Every precaution should be taken from the consumer's side to ensure their details are kept safe. We don't recommend shopping from an internet café or public computer.

2. Instant EFT

Instant EFT is a secure payment service that allows for electronic funds to be transferred directly into Upstream Fly Fishing’s bank account using your bank’s internet banking functionality. Capitec, ABSA, First National Bank, Investec, Nedbank and Standard Bank are supported.

How it works:

  • Select Instant EFT as your payment option during checkout and click on the 'Order & Pay Now' button
  • You will be taken to the PayFast page and you will select your bank
  • Login using your internet banking credentials
  • Select an account to pay from and enter a reference for your records
  • The automated process will navigate and populate the relevant fields on your behalf in the background
  • Your bank will send you an OTP (one-time password) or mobile authentication to your mobile phone to verify the payment
  • Enter your OTP or accept the authentication message
  • Payment is complete and your order is secured

3. Manual EFT – please email your proof of payment to fish@upstreamflyfishing including your name, order number and EFT reference.

  • Please note - we do not accept forex payments or cheque deposits.
