Gabon - Trophy Tarpon

In association with Arno Matthee of the Guide’s Company (TGC), we are proud to offer you the discovery of an incredible tarpon fishery in Gabon, on the west coast of Africa.

This fantastic venue borders an expanse of nature reserves with several river systems and coastal lagoons, lined by mangrove forests - These waters are home to the gargantuan West African Tarpon!

After years of exploration through these remote and exquisite locations, fly fishermen are starting to consistently land large tarpon ranging from 40 to 280lbs plus, on the fly. Just in case you ever tire of the giant Silver King the fishing for numerous other predatory species is nothing short of spectacular.

Target species: Tarpon, Longfin Jacks, Jack Crevalle, African Threadfin, Snapper, Jaw Croaker and Barracuda

Trip Length: 7 nights & 6 full fishing days based in Port-Gentil on the west coast of Gabon. Guests are advised to arrive the day before in Port-Gentil.

Travel: Weekly flights from OR Tambo International (Joburg) to Libreville, Gabon with ASKY Airlines or Ethiopian Airlines. Short charter flight from Libreville to Port-Gentil.

Group Size: Maximum of 4 fishing guests  -  hosted options are available 

Fly Fishing: The fishing will be done from 21 foot flats skiffs, equipped with 1 pro guide for every two clients. 12wt outfits are required with floating, intermediate and sinking lines.

Accommodation: Comfortable hotels pre-selected by TGC, situated close to the marinas, enabling easy access to the flats skiffs and minimizing travel time. Taxi's and transfers included.
