CUSTOM TIE JAMES CHRISTMAS SAND PRAWN

The classic Gun Nymph pattern by Gary Glen Young, adapted slightly to suit our preferences. The fine rubber legs give this pattern great movement in the water making it highly effective.  We recommend the FL Orange tag for Yellowfish, and the FL Violet tag for trout. Tied on Dohiku and Hends Competition hooks, with Slotted Tungsten beads- Size #14 and #16: 3mm Tungsten bead- Size #18 2.5mm Tungsten bead

Big and plenty heavy, these Yellowfish Alphlexos will work for both small- and largemouth Yellowfish. The Tan option has fluorescent orange tips on the legs which shine super bright under UV light 5mm Tungsten Dumbbell and two 4.0mm Tungtsen Beads for weight.

One of our most popular flies to target those elusive Spotted Grunter on the mud flats of the Western Cape estuaries. The articulated design naturally replicates the silhouette of the mud prawns on the surface with the floating foam head and the tail section that hangs below the water's surface. Fished on a static drift with the current/tide or a slow figure of eight has proven to be very effective. Tied on tried and tested Grip saltwater hooks. A great shrimp and critter pattern with plenty of movement. Can be fished for tropical species such as triggerfish and bonefish, or local reef species such as blacktail and cape bream. Tied on Ahrex hooks and weighted with a tungsten dumbbell

With plenty of weight and a big profile, these DMA style patterns are tied for targeting Kob(Kabeljou/Mulloway). Usually fished on an intermediate line, these flies get a nice jigging action similar to the way the artlure guys fish a dropshot paddletail lure. Tied on Ahrex PR370 Hooks, and weighted with a brass sculpin helmet and three 4mm tungsten beads.

The Clouser minnow has always been an essential pattern when targeting predatory fish. A staple pattern for chasing anything from Garrick/Leervis to Elf/Shad and Kob. The Flash Clouser has proven quite effective for even Yellowtail. Tied on Gamakatsu SL12S hooks and weighted with a Brass Dumbbell
